For a more subdued and stirring evening, a visit to Teatro La Perla in Ponce of the island’s Southern Region is sure to please. Located between Calle Cristina and Calle Mayor, this historic theater reopened in April of 2008, after extensive renovations, and is the staging venue for a variety of performing arts. With its neoclassical façade, designed by Juan Bertoli Calderoni in 1864, and rousing clear acoustics, the theater has a 1,047 – person capacity; perfectly suited for musical and dance concerts, theatrical productions, pageants and more.
